Resort Cabins in the Wilderness

Gatlinburg Falls Resort is the newest and most unique resort development in the area. We wanted to do something really special on this vacation and so we decided to splurge a little and rent a cabin for a week. We really did find some peace and quiet by having our own private cabin, yet we had all the amenities we needed without the inconvenience of "roughing it".
Located near the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains, the resort's natural setting is something you should see. Nearly all the cabins offer fantastic mountain views. You may already know what you're looking for in a vacation, but you may not know that Gatlinburg Falls Resort is a perfect option to consider. If you've never tried a cabin-like vacation condo, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Instead of typical hotel accommodations, you'll enjoy a real vacation home that is fully furnished, with separate sleeping quarters and a full kitchen.

There's a lot to do, too. Relax by the pool, let the kids have fun at the resort playground, or take a long hike into the mountains to enjoy some natural peace and quiet. However, you don't have to worry about feeling isolated, just because the setting seems so private. You're just a few minutes from downtown Gatlinburg.

The Pinnacle Destination

We stayed in the Pinnacle Lodge, a two bedroom, two bathroom luxury log cabin with two king sized beds and two queen sleepers. The spacious cabin had just about everything we could want as a family; including high speed internet, outdoor grilling, hot tubs and pool access. There was plenty of room, even with three young teens in tow.

Making reservations at Gatlinburg Falls Resort was a simple process, with no fine print to worry about. The pictures we saw of the resort looked great, but I can tell you that they don't do it justice. The reality is far better than what you'll find in photos online. The views are gorgeous.

Upon entering the cabin, we saw right away that it was beautifully built and furnished, and extremely clean. While we knew other people had probably stayed there at one time or another, it was hard to tell. Everything seemed quite new. The natural wood walls, ceilings and floors felt warm and inviting, and large windows offered plenty of light. The beds were extremely comfortable!
The shower spa and hot tub offered plenty of relaxation, and more than one bathroom meant that there wasn't a need to wait for one in the morning. One of the real benefits of the cabin over a conventional hotel room is that we were able to have their own room, away from the kids for a little while. We actually spent more time in our luxury cabin than we expected!

Of course, there's plenty to keep everyone occupied with the boys really enjoying the game room. Three DVD players and three HD TVs meant no arguing over what we were going to watch, and we had a lot of fun playing air hockey as a family, too. A deck and barbecue grill meant ending a great day eating burgers in the open mountain air.

The cabins at Gatlinburg Falls Resort are mostly on wooded hillside property with just enough privacy to feel like your out on your own. At night, without the typical city lights it was dark enough that it felt like we were the only ones in the mountains. It is just amazing to simply sit and relax to watch the millions of bright stars against the night sky.

If you have not stayed in accommodations that offered a full kitchen, you don't know what you've been missing. While it's fun to eat out when you're on vacation, doing it for every single meal gets old fast. With all pots, pans, dishes and cutlery supplied, all we had to do was bring the food. There was plenty of space, lots of high end appliances that worked well, and the built in dishwasher made cleaning up simple and easy.

The dining room seats eight, but it handled our smaller family without seeming too large. The washer and dryer in the cabin came in handy, too - after a long day of hiking and other activities in the woods, fresh clothes were really appealing. You know kids - they wear it for a couple of hours and it need to be laundered!
