First of all, Baskins Creek Vacation Rentals is not your typical lodging resource for vacationers. They are more like a network of privately owned cabins, condos and chalet type homes available to people like you and me in the Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge area. With some only a few minutes drive from town, these rentals still feel like they're in the midst of an undisturbed wilderness - perfect for families or couples trying to get away from the lights and noise for a while.You will also find that these properties are equipped with linens, towels, starter amounts of paper products, dish soap, dishwasher soap, bath soap & trash bags.
Black Bear Lodge
We decided to rent the Black Bear Lodge, a Log Cabin located in Chalet Village on Ski mountain. It's a beautiful cabin, with fully furnished luxury interiors, and a fabulous mountain view. The accommodations definitely live up to the description on the Baskins Creek vacation rentals site. If you think a cabin means roughing it, you should think again.We arrived a little earlier in Gatlinburg that we expected. The staff was helpful to get us our door code, even though we were there before we were technically supposed to check in. The cabin wasn't too hard to get to, and the exterior was very quaint, with an old fashioned porch and a couple of rocking chairs.
We had three bedrooms, two baths, a fully furnished kitchen, a wood burning fireplace and a hot tub on the deck. The master suite was furnished with a Jacuzzi and a soft, luxurious king size bed that was incredibly comfortable. No waking up with backaches the way we sometimes do from hotel beds. The kids' rooms each featured a queen bed with the same quality of furnishings and bedding, as well. Our cabin also had a sunroom on the main level that offer additional beautiful views.
Great Mountain Views

The in-cabin laundry and full kitchen meant that we only had to leave the cabin when we felt like it. There's nothing worse than eating out every single meal when you'd rather have something at home or spending hours in the laundromat when you're on vacation. Baskins Creek vacation rentals kept us from doing any of that. We just went into Gatlinburg when we felt like it, or to check out some of the attractions and entertainment the town has to offer. One minor downside was the lack of internet access,
though we didn't really miss it with everything that was going on. Some of the other rentals do have it if that's what you're looking for. You should check out the log book during your stay, too. We read through it and got to see who else had stayed in our cabin and what they'd thought about their visits. We weren't surprised that pretty much everyone else had a good time, too.
One thing we noticed right away was that the cabin was very neat, clean and in good repair. Baskins Creek vacation rentals are tidy and well kept. We thought it was an excellent value for the amount of money we spent. Our initial uncertainties that the cabin would be in an inaccessible area were completely unfounded, though we did have excellent privacy.
We did, however, see a few small bears and raccoons while we stayed there. Black Bear Lodge actually lived up to its name. They didn't make a nuisance of themselves, so it was mostly just a lot of fun to watch them from the deck. Other visitors have also mentioned seeing bears, as well as wild turkeys, which we didn't get a chance to see. Views of the Smokey Mountains are exceptional so don't forget to bring your camera!

Check out was just as easy as check in. There was no need to go to the office, and the customer service representatives were professional and extremely helpful for the entire visit. If we get a chance to go back to Black Bear Lodge, we'll definitely be getting back in touch with Baskins Creek vacation rentals.
